Acrostic Poems
An acrostic poem hides a word or message within its structure — the first letter of each line, when read vertically, spells out a word, name, or phrase. This form combines the challenge of structured writing with the delight of hidden meaning.
Structure & Rules
Each line begins with a letter that, when read vertically from top to bottom, spells a word or message. No fixed meter or rhyme scheme required.
Example
Laughter shared on summer nights Over coffee, over wine Vulnerable, honest, true Even distance can't undo
How to Write a Acrostic
Choose your hidden word and write it vertically. For each letter, write a line that starts with that letter and relates to your theme. The challenge is making the poem read naturally — the best acrostics don't feel forced.
