Barn Light
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
Before sunrise, the barn light
came on because he did.
Cattle shifted in the dark.
A radio found the weather.
Tonight the switch is still.
We stand outside the door
learning how much morning
one person used to make.
Then someone reaches in.
The light returns,
not the same morning,
but work that must be carried.
