Soft Shoes on Stone
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
Soft shoes on stone,
slow steps through sleep—
the sea slips silver
under the moon.
Wind worries the wheat.
Reeds rehearse a rumor.
Far from the road,
a fox folds fire
into the field.
Nothing is silent.
Night speaks softly
to anyone still enough.
