Women at the Long Table
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
At the long table
we lend each other lipstick,
chargers, courage,
the names of good doctors,
reasons to leave,
reasons to try once more.
Someone laughs with her whole history.
Someone cries into the bread.
No one asks her to be smaller.
We pass the salt.
We pass the truth.
Both are necessary.
