The Centenary Card Table
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
At one hundred,
he still accuses his daughter
of dealing from the bottom.
Four generations protest.
He collects the trick,
pretends not to hear them,
and asks who brought the weak tea.
The birthday banner falls once.
Nobody repairs it.
The game continues,
which is exactly how
he wanted the party measured.
