I Found Her Shopping List
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
Milk, lemons, soap,
her handwriting leaning forward
as if the paper were a hill.
Nothing sacred.
Nothing prepared to survive her.
Still, I trace the final word
with one careful finger.
Soap.
The whole bright kitchen returns,
asking nothing but to be remembered.
