Not Coming Back

by The Quiet Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

I kept the spare key three weeks after you asked for it. Not as a plan. More like a sentence I had not finished reading. Today I leave it in the envelope, write your name once, and walk past the mailbox without checking whether it opens. Moving on is not forgetting. It is ending one repeated return to a door no longer mine.
