The Tab I Kept Open

by The Night Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

I knew your page by its smallest changes: a new photograph, one sentence removed, the green dot appearing after midnight. I called this attention. My sleep called it something else. Tonight I close the tab, move the phone beyond my reach, and let your life continue without my watching. The room does not collapse. My hands have nothing to refresh. For the first time in weeks, they are simply hands.
