Spring Without Permission

by The Quiet Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

You died in March. By April, tulips opened as if the ground had not heard. I hated every green thing, each bird rehearsing joy outside the funeral suit. Then one afternoon a blossom fell into my sleeve. I carried it home, not forgiven, not refused.
