What Not to Say

by The Quiet Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

Do not hand me a reason. Do not polish the silence. Do not tell me heaven needed what my arms still reach for. Sit here. Learn the child's name. Let the tea go cold. If you must bring something, bring time without advice, a door that does not hurry me, and one true sentence: This should not have happened.
