Thank You for the Ordinary
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
Thank you for arriving
without waiting to be asked.
For soup in the wrong container.
For the lift home.
For remembering the appointment
I wanted everyone to forget.
For jokes that did not fix the week
but helped the evening pass.
For telling me the truth gently,
and the difficult truth plainly.
Family, friend, chosen family—
the name matters less tonight
than the chair you pulled beside mine.
