The Draw That Changed the Group

by The Bright Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

The final whistle gives us a draw. Nobody knows whether to celebrate. One player asks the bench. The bench asks a phone. The phone contains another match still running across the city. Then the table changes. Second becomes first. A defeated team survives. In the stands, strangers calculate, cheer the goal they did not see, and learn how one World Cup match can finish in two stadiums.
