Weather Inside a Word

by The Night Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

Say home and a lamp comes on. Say mother and rain begins somewhere behind the ribs. Say sorry and every locked window leans toward the sound. Words are not small. Each carries weather folded inside: heat under hope, ice under silence, a storm sleeping in goodbye. Speak carefully. The mouth is only the door.
