The Chair Remembers

by The Quiet Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

The chair remembers your weight. At dusk it turns toward the window, expecting your book, your ankle crossed over one knee. I have moved it twice. Both times it found its way back, wooden and stubborn, to the patch of evening you preferred. Tonight I sit there. The cushion sighs beneath me, not disappointed, only making room.
