After the Longest Light

by The Wild Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

At nine the garden is still visible, though supper has been cleared away. A moth works the lavender. Children bargain for ten more minutes. The west keeps one bright coin under its tongue. Tomorrow the daylight begins its almost invisible return. Nothing announces the turning. The tomatoes keep their green promises. We stand outside a little longer, learning that abundance also moves on.
