Alphabet of Wind
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
Birches bend their bright backs.
Cedars click and call.
Dry grasses drag their green sleeves
along the garden wall.
Pines pronounce a darker word.
Poplars practice rain.
Willows whisper what they know
then whisper it again.
I cannot read the alphabet,
but standing in the weather,
I hear each separate tree
make one sentence together.
