Before the First Dance

by The Hearth Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

Before the first dance, she slips into the quiet corridor with her father's photograph. No announcement. No empty spotlight. Only one minute for the man who taught her rhythm and did not live to see the dress. Then her wife finds her, stands beside the picture, and waits. Together they return when the music calls them by name.
