Borrowing Her Blue Dress

by The Hearth Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

I ask before opening the wardrobe, which is how she knows I have finally grown up. She says yes, then lists the terms: no red wine, no safety pins, back by Sunday. At the mirror I find her loose thread at the cuff, my shoulders in the same blue. A sister lends more than clothing. She lends the version of you she already trusts to return.
