Consonants Before Breakfast
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
Brisk brushes sweep
brown crumbs from the board.
Blue bowls balance
beside buttered bread.
The kettle clicks;
coffee curls upward.
Morning makes its music
before anyone speaks:
small sounds stitched together,
the day beginning
with a mouthful of letters.
