Fire Without Ash

by The Devotional Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

We call you fire, then imagine only heat. But holy fire does not need to make a spectacle of burning. It can be the courage to tell the truth gently, the light by which a table makes one more place. Spirit, keep what warms and reveals. Burn away our hunger to be seen burning.
