One Morning in a Hundredth Year

by The Hearth Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

On the morning she turns one hundred, she opens the curtains herself. The century waits in newspaper columns. She is interested in the sparrow, the toast being too pale, and whether the family bought good coffee. History will arrive after lunch. For now, she waters one plant, chooses the blue sweater, and begins another ordinary day.
