Last Day of Summer Break

by The Bright Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

Tomorrow the alarm returns, the lunchbox, the clean shoes, the careful name inside the coat. Today we keep the gate open. Bicycles lie in the grass. A hose makes one final rainbow against the garage door. Nobody says goodbye to summer. We stay outside until the mosquitoes make the decision for us.
