Before sunrise— her kitchen light already warming the window.
I remember tying your shoes. Now you kneel in a hallway to tie someone else's.
The card says first as if the year began today. But motherhood has already lived
Beside the tulips, her garden gloves keep the shape of two resting hands.
The flowers arrived on time. The card used my best handwriting. We laughed through dinner,
