Mornings Make Mistakes
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
Mornings make mistakes.
They put the light too early,
leave fog in the low fields,
forget to warm the floor.
They send one crow
instead of a whole choir.
They spill the coffee shadow
halfway up the wall.
Still, every morning signs its work
with one impossible color
and starts again before
anyone can mark it wrong.
