The Sun Has No Manners
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
The sun has no manners.
It barges through the blinds,
throws gold across my pillow,
and reads the dreams I left unfolded.
It points at every dust mote.
It wakes the clock before me.
It warms the chair you emptied
as if nothing here has changed.
Still, I open one eye.
Still, it lays a bright hand
on the floor beside the bed
and waits for me to stand.
