Mother's Day in the Cemetery

by The Quiet Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

I bring no flowers. She preferred tomatoes, new pencils, the first dark coffee of the day. So I bring stories: the job I almost took, the neighbor's ridiculous fence, her granddaughter's new laugh. The stone says dates. I answer with details. Between us, a life keeps refusing summary.
