Her Faith in Small Things

by The Hearth Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

My mother's faith was rarely loud. It lived in lunches wrapped at dawn, a name kept on the prayer list, the envelope slipped beneath a door, the apology made before Sunday. She did not call these miracles. She called them what needed doing. On Mother's Day I remember not a perfect woman, but a practiced attention that made belief visible in small, repairable acts.
