Name Tags at the Reunion

by The Bright Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

At the family reunion, name tags solve nothing. A cousin has changed her surname. An uncle insists everyone was shorter. A niece recognizes three people only from the group chat. By lunch, the labels peel away. Stories do the identifying: the lake trip, the broken swing, the recipe nobody wrote down. Family becomes a memory we correct together.
