Small Enough
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
Make the day small enough:
this spoon, this soup,
the square of sun beside the sink.
Do not carry Thursday yet.
Do not lift the whole year.
Let the clock keep its boxes.
For now, breathe to the window.
For now, wash one cup.
For now, the world is no larger
than the hand that holds it.
