The Boy and the Man

by The Hearth Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

The boy left muddy shoes beneath every chair. The man lines his boots beside his own front door. Both live in my mind: one asking for a story, one carrying worries he does not always name. To love a son is learning not to call the man backward, not to lose the boy.
