Map in the Empty Bedroom

by The Hearth Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

After my son moves north, his room becomes mostly floor. Tape marks remain on the wall. A single sock waits behind the radiator. The map above the desk still circles the city he chose. I do not call the room abandoned. I open the window, wash the last cup, and learn the distance between missing someone and asking them to return.
