The Room We Prepared
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
The room was ready:
small stars on the wall,
blankets folded into clouds,
a name waiting in the drawer.
Afterward, no one knew
whether to close the door.
We left it open.
Grief moved in quietly,
not as the child we wanted,
but carrying every shape
our love had already made.
