The Friend Who Brings Oranges

by The Hearth Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

She does not ask what I need. She brings oranges, sets them in a blue bowl, and opens the window. We sit without improving anything. She peels one slowly, passes me half. Some friendships are speeches. Ours is citrus on the fingers, a chair that stays, the room allowed to be difficult.
