Two Minutes
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
Two minutes is long enough
for a kettle to begin,
a traffic light to change,
a child to ask why everyone stopped.
It is not long enough
for every name,
every letter,
every life interrupted.
Still, we give the silence
its exact small border
and try to stand honestly inside it.
