Two Mothers at the Door

by The Hearth Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

Two mothers at the doorway, each holding something wrapped, each pretending not to worry about the children driving late. One brings bread. One brings fruit. Both ask if the heating works. Inside, their families meet not by erasing any branch, but by setting both gifts down on the same wide table.
