When He Let Go
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
The bicycle moved
because his hand was gone.
I shouted when I noticed,
furious at balance,
afraid of the open street.
Behind me he was running,
not holding,
close enough to hear.
Years have only widened
that bright strip of road:
his love, letting go
without going away.
