Another Word for Home

by The Hearth Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

House is the address. Home is the kettle beginning before anyone asks. Shelter keeps out weather. Refuge lets the shoulders drop. Dwelling appears on forms. Place is what a friend says when there is no hurry to leave. The words gather around one room, close in meaning, never interchangeable, each carrying a different key.
