At the Red Light

by The Wild Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

At the red light, the engine warms my knees. A child in the next car presses both palms to the glass and twists an imaginary throttle. I nod. He nods back, solemn as a mechanic. The light changes. For one block, I ride inside his astonishment.
