Barefoot at Low Tide

by The Wild Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

The ocean has moved its furniture, leaving wet sand, three green ropes of weed, and shells too small to keep. We walk where water stood an hour ago. Our feet sink, release, sink again. Farther out, the tide is turning without consulting us. The beach is not an edge today but a room repeatedly opened and taken back.
