From Mother to Mother
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
You are still my daughter.
You are also the person
a child searches for in a crowded room.
Both truths live together.
I see my old worry
inside your careful questions.
I also see choices
I would not have known to make.
On Mother's Day,
I do not hand you a rulebook.
I hand you time,
a meal,
and respect for your own family.
