Hair in the Shower
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
It gathers near the drain
more quickly than I expected.
I turn off the water,
wrap the towel,
and sit on the closed lid
until the room stops tilting.
Later, my daughter brings scissors.
We do not call this brave.
We call it Tuesday.
She cuts slowly.
I choose what happens next
to one small part of me.
