I Have Waited a Century

by The Night Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

I have waited a century for your message to turn blue. Civilizations rose in the kitchen. The basil conquered the sink. A glacier crossed the hallway and left its suitcase by the door. Then your three little dots appeared— three moons, three drums, three tiny promises of weather. They vanished. I grew another hundred years before putting down the phone.
