The Listening Cylinder

by The Night Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

We invite the small black cylinder onto the kitchen shelf. It tells the weather, sets the timer, plays the song my father loved. Later an advertisement follows our unfinished dinner conversation. Maybe coincidence. Maybe not. The cylinder keeps its blue light off and listens beautifully.
