Paper Poppy

by The Quiet Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

A child pins a paper poppy slightly crooked on her coat. She knows the word remember but not yet what it carries. We tell her one true thing: every name belonged to someone who was expected home. The flower is light. The sentence is not.
