Trail Above the Clouds
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
For twenty minutes the path climbs
through white air.
No valley, no destination,
only boots finding the next stone.
Then the cloud thins beneath us.
Ridges rise like dark islands.
A hawk crosses the distance
without explaining scale.
We do not conquer anything.
We sit, drink water,
and let the mountains remain
larger than our arrival.
