The Fence Line

by The Wild Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

He walked the fence at evening, not because the wire had changed, but because wind, cattle, and time are always negotiating. He knew each leaning post by touch. At his funeral we followed that same long boundary, learning the land remembers labor without pretending it can speak.
