His Weather Report
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
He read weather in swallows,
in the ache of one knee,
in cattle turning backs to rain.
The phone forecast called for sun.
He carried a coat.
Today the sky is clear
above the churchyard.
Someone says perfect weather.
We know better than to ask
weather to explain a death.
