Hat on the Peg
Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.
His hat remains on the peg,
rain-dark at the brim,
a pale line where the sun
could not reach.
We could put it away.
Nobody does.
Some objects are not waiting.
They are keeping watch,
holding one ordinary place
against the hurry of absence.
