Video Call Among Boxes

by The Bright Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

Your new room is mostly cardboard. The lamp has no shade. The picture freezes whenever you laugh. You turn the phone slowly: window, radiator, one heroic houseplant, the street you cannot name yet. I show you our old corner shop closing for the night. Neither screen is the same as being there. Still, for twenty minutes, two unfinished rooms make one conversation.
