June Solstice, Looking South

by The Wild Voice

Original EveryPoem Studio house-voice poem.

North of us, gardens hold their longest evening. Here the sun leaves early. We button coats at the harbor and watch our shadows lengthen across the wet boards. The planet does not choose one story. June can mean strawberries, or breath made visible, or both at once on different roads. Earth keeps turning without a headline. We mark the shortest day, then walk home beneath unfamiliar stars.
